A subset of consultants is the smokejumpers. Like the titular firefighters who parachute into the forest fire to fight it from within, the smokejumper parachutes into the middle of an engagement to take charge of a delivery or rescue a floundering effort.

A particularly challenging scenario for these consultatnts is the "cold-drop" in which they are given little to no background information and must hit the ground running--quickly assessing the situation, formulating a plan, and demonstrating results.
